Licensed psychologist Cynthia Edwards is the first intern at the Lundin Psychiatric Hospital.  Eager to pursue her passion, hospital director David Morgan welcomes her with excitement and helps ease any uncertainties she may have had.  However, it doesn’t take long for Cynthia to realize that not everything is as it seems and what goes on behind closed doors is unlike anything she could have imagined.

A mind-gripping rollercoaster of emotion, Patient 27 reveals the life of severely disturbed individual Bryan Rollins.  His life is unlike anything Cynthia is prepared to handle. As their relationship grows she begins to realize that a juvenile record and a family history of sexual, physical and verbal abuse are just the tip of the iceberg.  Through Bryan, Cynthia is also able to meet and learn about his roommate, Anthony Givens.  Like Bryan, Anthony’s story is complex and tragic and in her observations she is able to see the positive, father-figure type influences that Anthony has on him.  But, as Bryan’s story unfolds, Cynthia’s unravels new and terrifying mysteries about her patient and the psychiatric hospital that imprisons him. This leads her on a desperate search to find his estranged sister, which helps her to uncover the truth about his condition and attempt to expose the corruption that threatens to take his life.

Patient 27 captures the raw, explosive and controversial circumstances of our time and poses the question of how far can someone be pushed before they fall?
